Dead. Not danagling over eternal flames. Imagine the punishment of realising that because you rejected the LORD Christ Jesus and his sacrifice for your sins you are now not only going to be unable to enter into everlasting life, but you will be extinquished. Dead. The second death. In which there is now no longer any resurrection available to you. Certainly that is fearsome beyond all measure. But fits the nature of God and how he gave us free will more than God torturing those beings He made "in His own image" forever and ever like some cosmic sadist. And like the fellow who generated this blog said (sorry don't remember your name) isn't it an inditemnt of us that we haven't made eternity in heaven with God more of a draw? I am encouraged by what God is doing in your life and love the fact that you were able to witness freely through God. So often, we try to determine what is best for us or where our lives should go. I agree with you in that God knows what is best for us and looking back at my life, I can clearly see that! I am not going to lie. Sometimes, I wish I had a crystal ball to see where God will have me go next. I have never been very good about waiting patiently on God, however I am now learning that waiting on God is the secret to growing our faith muscles.

God bless you,
Michelle JensenUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13017532482760112091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125282466232202973.post-49810001045766628632009-06-22T13:31:41.796-05:002009-06-22T13:31:41.796-05:00Terry, I have read many of your blogs and think th...Terry, I have read many of your blogs and think that this is probably the best one you've written.

I also struggled with what I perceived as to god's purpose for my life. I used to watch others serving God and wondered, gee, I love you too Lord just as much as they do. What do you want me to do? It wasn't jealousy that I felt but a deep desire to also serve God in whatever capacity.

It wasn't much longer after that, that the Lord shared with me that His plan for our lives could be found in our passions. What are we passionate about. Besides loving and worshiping the Lord, what drives us and gets us up in the morning? Each one of us is a part of the body and have a predestination for a specific role to play in the body of Christ.

The first thing I do after praying and grabbing a bowl of cereal on the way through the kitchen is to head for my computer and write. It is a passion for me and I firmly believe that this is the God ordained purpose for my life. I do wonder, however, why it took me so long to figure it out. I now believe that God has a timing for everything. God was preparing me for a time such as this as He was with you brother.

Like you intimated to us concerning your life, I have also squandered my life, only in terms of purpose. I've done many things I'm proud of, like raising four beautiful and talented kids, done the best I could where ever I worked, and loved the Lord with all my heart but alas, I have squandered my purpose until now.

Where would I be today and how many lives could I have touched had I received the call to write a long time ago. I think this is why I am so driven to write. Sorry Lord.

I hope this helps in your quest for your purpose but quite frankly Terry, I think you've found it. Keep writing brother.James Lindquisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05608122989130160872noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125282466232202973.post-41189277188413240872009-06-21T15:15:53.519-05:002009-06-21T15:15:53.519-05:00Wow, you sound so much like me in the last 4 years...Wow, you sound so much like me in the last 4 years or so. Search high and low for that perfect job that I think God wants for me. Wasted many years doing this and the result was many attempts, yet not knowing 'for sure' if 'it' was what God wanted. Then I found a message coming to me in many different avenues, the Christian radio programs, church services, His word and such. The message was this. "seek ye first the kingdom of God and His rightiousness and ALL these things shall be added unto you".

This is a scripture that I've known for my entire Christian life but never have I taken it literally. Now that I do, He has led me, not just into jobs as much as situations where a Christian was needed. Not necessarily to witness with words, but to witness with my lifestyle...always willing to be used by God. This alone has spoken loudly to the people in my life, whether it's my family, friends or those in a specific situation I'm led to be in. But the point is made. That following Christ is not just going to church and reading the Bible, but living it daily and applying it to all areas of my life and letting His light shine.

Great post and wonderful blog. Keep listening for His voice. Your blog is something that God is using. Thank you for being obedient to Him. I think I started following you ...Great blog Terry. I think I started following you after this one or I missed it altogether. If that being the case, I apologize brother esp after your support for me. Anyway, I agree with you in what you say. Although a little long, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I have some comments that are in line with what you are saying.

The church IS as you say, the Body of Christ. In the old testament the Bride was the Church. In the New Testament the Bride is the Body. What I want to say is that Christ is coming back for a Bride without Spot, blemish, or wrinkle. This goes along with what you say.

Why there are so many denominations is because of doctrinal issues. Some churches treat the Bible as a smorgasbord and so - the split.

The only defense I would have for the different denominations is that there are different mantels on different churches because of the differences in gifts and spirits of the believers. In defense of that statement I might say that some believers have a prayer spirit on them, so they will, of course, search out a church that has a prayer or intercessory mantel on it. If a believer has a spirit of worship, they'll seek out a worshiping church. If a believer is gifted in prophecy, they'll look for a church with a prophetic mantel on it. Etc etc etc.

Should all churches have all mantels (and because of the Holy Spirit, they do), that would be ideal. But one service would have to last for two or three days - and half the congregation would be asleep at any given time. So the different mantels on different churches is a good thing in that respect. (I am speaking outside the churches that you speak of in your blog but thought was worth mentioning.)

I agree with you on the truth. The two scriptures that come to mind are John 3:33 and since your blog is a basic study in Corinthians, how about 2 Corinthians 1:18.

I seen a poster on a church wall once that read something like this: A traditionalist looks at the Pentecostal and says, "That's not of God." The Pentecostal looks at the traditionalist and says, "Look how bound up they are." And the world looks at them both and says, "Look how divided they are."

You spoke of atheists. I am puzzled. How can an atheist spend his entire life refuting and denouncing something that he doesn't even believe exists? You talk about insanity.

Also, the Bible is an anvil that has worn out many hammers.

The false teachers will be held accountable for the blood of those that he/she misleads. I pity that poor man/woman that has to face Him on "that day." Woe!!!

Have you noticed how Satan works in the media by the types of - quote, unquote - Christians that they have on their shows. How they are always the radical quacks. And we wonder why Christianity is losing credibility amongst the unbelievers.

It is all in THE PLAN, however. Things are as they must be. I have read the end of THE Book and I know how it ends.

Satan is as a roaring lion looking for whom he may devour. Can Satan devour us? You bet. MAY he devour us? Not on your life. Satan ONLY has the power that we give to him.

The assembling of one another is not necessary for salvation but God's Word says, not to forsake the assembling of one another. So I agree with you on that.(Sorry, paraphrase of course. I do a lot of that.)

Very good blog Brother. And again, thanks for your support.

JimJames Lindquisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05608122989130160872noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125282466232202973.post-33381835671892002802009-05-22T11:15:35.809-05:002009-05-22T11:15:35.809-05:00Hi Terry, I have a blog in my drafts ready to go f...Hi Terry, I have a blog in my drafts ready to go for the following Monday's blog. I have started blogging and have some o learn but I have such a passion to write (believe God mandated that for my life), that it is all I do from the time I get up until the time I go to bed. Nuff bout me.

I agree with you. Who can look at a sunrise, a snow capped mountain, a brook while deer drink there, a new born baby and then in the same breathe, denounce the existence of God. It's beyond me. So I agree with you.

I also agree with you about love. I have taught, like yourself, that without choice, you render love meaningless.

If we don't lead people to Christ, then the enemy will lead them to Satan. Since the beginning of Christianity, the only time when we get in trouble is when we say that Christ is the ONLY WAY to heaven. Now it's the truth but it is when we get in trouble. (I'm not saying that you said that, it is just a blanket statement about Christianity. I've been a believer most of my life.

You can check out my blog at jameslindquistswritng.blogspot.com

GBY brother

JimJames Lindquisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05608122989130160872noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125282466232202973.post-13155391567715733412009-05-04T21:42:00.000-05:002009-05-04T21:42:00.000-05:00Thank you for reading, Lucy, and I'm glad you aske...Thank you for reading, Lucy, and I'm glad you asked the question! But what hard, irrefutable proof do we have that the earth revolves around the sun, really? Scientist's claims are all we really have. And of course I do believe it, but it's because I have faith in that information.

Like I wrote, the only thing that would be hard proof for me is if I could actually see the earth revolving around the sun from a fixed position somewhere out in space.

Remember, there was a time when scientists claimed they had proof that the earth was flat and everyone believed it for awhile. Did they believe it because they had hard proof, or did they believe it because they had faith in what the scientists were telling them at the time?

There was a time when scientists claimed they had proof that the sun rotated around the earth, and everyone believed that for awhile too. But obviously they only believed it by faith in what the scientists were telling them, because they obviously had no hard proof.

Have you been believing that Pluto is a planet all these years? Me too. Did you believe it by proof? Obviously not, because now they're telling us that Pluto isn't a planet after all.

There's alot we believe out of faith in the information we're given, because we don't really have any hard proof for ourselves.

The only hard, irrefutable proof I have for anything is what I can detect for myself with one or more of my own six senses. As for everything else, I can only believe it by faith in the information I'm given.

So unless you've seen with your own eyes from outer space somewhere that the earth is orbiting the sun, you have no proof. You're just believing by faith in the information you've been given.

Thanks again Lucy!Terry Scerinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01595417141221814424noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125282466232202973.post-21467380224873804172009-05-04T17:25:00.000-05:002009-05-04T17:25:00.000-05:00I am a little confused by your reasoning. You men...I am a little confused by your reasoning. You mention the brick wall and then you use the earth spinning around the world. You have faith that the earth goes around the sun (not the other way around). Not sure I see the difference? If there is proof that the earth goes around the sun, then it is not up to belief or faith anymore since it has been proven, right? So it doesn't matter whether or not you "believe" it is true, it is.

'Splain Lucy!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125282466232202973.post-81066290291162746882009-05-03T01:46:00.000-05:002009-05-03T01:46:00.000-05:00Outstanding and Amen!Outstanding and Amen!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125282466232202973.post-39006112796145002842009-05-02T12:14:00.000-05:002009-05-02T12:14:00.000-05:00I never thought of that!I never thought of that!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125282466232202973.post-55995843270190794712009-04-12T22:14:00.000-05:002009-04-12T22:14:00.000-05:00excellent, as always.excellent, as always.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125282466232202973.post-20967799548098925812009-03-16T19:46:00.000-05:002009-03-16T19:46:00.000-05:00Terry,As usual this is just wonderful!
